We uphold the highest standards in craftsmanship of our hand crafted Swarovski crystal and gemstone sterling silver beaded jewelry. The longevity of your hand crafted jewelry will depend on the care you give it. Swarovski crystals are known for their purest quality, luminosity and clarity. The following few simple steps will help you enjoy the brilliance and dazzle of your handmade Crystal Allure Handcrafted Beaded Jewelry for years to come.
Care: Apply lotions, oils, perfumes, hairspray, and other products before putting on your artisan jewelry. Take off jewelry before swimming in a pool or the ocean. The chlorine and salt can cause damage to various gemstones and gold. If you have an active lifestyle, take extra precaution in wearing your jewelry, as some gemstones can easily chip and become damaged. Do not sleep with your jewelry on as movement causes stress on all moving parts.
Storage: I highly recommend storing your sterling silver jewelry in zip loc bags to slow down the tarnishing* process (do not store pearls in a zip log bag). Store jewelry pieces separately to avoid scratches. Store jewelry away from sunlight as the sun may fade the gemstones.
*Tarnish is a naturally occurring process of Sterling Silver called oxidation. Tarnish begins to appear as a golden tone, then quickly gets darker. Simply wearing your Sterling Silver jewelry will reduce the rate of tarnish, as body oils slow the rate of tarnish.
Cleaning: The safest method of cleaning most jewelry is to use mild warm soapy water, rinse with cool water, and pat dry with a soft cloth. Soaking jewelry that contains soft opaque stones such as opal, coral, fluorite, lapis lazuli, pearls, turquoise, malachite, and onyx, is not recommended. Extended soaking may harm the polish on these stones, or may even cause discoloration. Instead, clean the stones with a little soapy water or use a polishing cloth.
Do not use 'jewelry dips' on Crystal Allure Handcrafted Beaded Jewelry as these dips can damage the finish.
Polishing Jewelry: The sterling silver components in your jewelry piece can be polished using a soft cotton cloth.
Caring For Your Pearls
~Pearls are more fragile than most other gemstones, so you must handle them carefully to keep them in the best condition.
~Your pearls will stay cleaner if you put them on after you've applied your makeup and perfume.
~Be sure to take off your pearls before you apply lotions and body creams.
~Wipe your pearls with a soft, lint-free cloth as soon as you take them off. The cloth can be dampened with water or it can be dry. If damp, allow the pearls to air dry before putting them away.
~Dirty pearls can be cleaned with a mild soap and water solution.
~Never clean your pearls with solutions that contain ammonia or harsh detergents.
~Don't put pearl jewelry in an ultrasonic cleaner.
~Don't use abrasive cleaners or rub pearls with abrasive cloth. Both can wear away the nacre coating, leaving you with a dull lackluster pearl
Storing your pearls Don't store your pearls with other jewelry, because they can be scratched easily when metal or gemstones rub against them. Keep them in a soft bag made from chamois or other non-abrasive material. Do not store pearls in an airtight environment, such as a plastic zip lock bag, or in an excessively dry place. Pearls need moisture, and exposure to humidity is good for them. If they become dehydrated, they can become brittle and crack.
