It's Finally Here! New Online Store - New Look!

Happy New Year!!

I know I haven't blogged in what seems like quite a while -but I've been extremely busy. Aside from having created a handful of new pieces I've been diligently working on improving your shopping experience.

Today, I am so very excited to announce the new online store has been finished and tested, as promised for 2007. There are still a few minor things to tweak, including better quality thumbshots for each product and better organization of products. BUT, shopping at Crystal Allure has never been easier!!

With the new store your shopping experience is now improved through an account creation that offers (to name just a few) order tracking, mailing address management, discount offers AND now you can pay using either PayPal or your credit card! Also forthcoming will be a gift certificate option -great for gifts!

In the next few days I'll be working on finishing up the smaller details of the new store so that I can get to the introduction of all the new pieces for early 2007 -stay tuned.....

The only caveat to the new store is even though it was tested I am nervous a customer might have a problem checking out but if for any reason you do -PLEASE email me so that I can get that problem fixed.

Thank you and happy shopping!!

In Preparation For The Spring 2007 Collection

Last night I began work on a new earring design that will premier for Spring 2007 and I'm so excited about the new jewelry coming next year that I can barely contain myself!

I had ordered the beads for this design earlier in the week and they arrived last night. I have a ton of other projects on the bench right now but I wanted to work on this one particular design. A few hours later I've completed three pairs. I'm absolutely loving this new design and can't wait to share it with all of you!

Although you'll have to wait until early 2007...sorry. : (

BUT, I am positive you're going to love these new designs! : )

Join Me At The Open House

This coming Saturday will be your last chance to pick up great Crystal Allure Creations, including one-of-a-kind jewelry, before the new year!

The open house will begin at 1:00 pm and end at 4:00 pm at my bead studio located in Rochester, New York (contact me for directions). Remember, it's an open house, so you can come in and shop at your leisure -no need to sit and listen to a pitch. I'm not a big fan of those types of shows myself and much prefer open houses any day! Or maybe I should say, "open bead studio".

Once again, I'll remind you that you can find some fantastic jewelry at fantastic prices -all in the name of moving inventory. There is so much planned for 2007 that a whole new line of jewelry is just ONE of the great things to come!

I'm looking forward to seeing you Saturday!

Happy Shopping!

Now, it clearly sounds like a great thing -right? However, being the leary person that I am, I happened to ask a fellow friend from if they had any information on this company. She returned to me a search string from Google (see below) and I really must thank her because for only maybe a second or two I had considered it -and after reading the reviews I've decided to not move forward with them. It's all about risk and right now I'm just not interested in maybe's -I want to see results and have all the confidence that I can expect results.

That is not to say they are a bad company or that they do not deliver results, but I do not have the confidence that for my products I am willing to part with $340 to maybe get some results. And I'm only posting this for other designers who read my blog to be leary of the same email. Really look into it before "signing on the dotted line". Reviews

Upcoming Show Reminder for November 5, 2006

November 5th - 11th, 2006 is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week and Crystal Allure will be supporting its local animal shelter, Rochester Animal Services (RAS).

You only have to visit their website and read their newsletters to learn of the staggering numbers of homeless and surrendered pets that deserve a loving, caring and responsible home. RAS has been working hard to raise the funds necessary for their operations and such important programs as the Low Income Spay/Neuter program.

I wholeheartedly agree with them that there is nothing better a responsible pet owner can do than to spay or neuter their pet!!! My husband and I also adopted two of our little fur-kids from this shelter as well -and had it not been for their services and programs our lives may never have been graced with our very much loved cats, Tookie (aka Cookie Toe) and Sweetie Pie (aka Smokey).

Even if you don't live in Rochester, you can still support and appreciate your local shelter during this important week. For those living in and near Rochester, stop on down!! Come see all the dazzling jewelry and accessories Crystal Allure has to offer. I will be donating 10% of all pre-tax sales to RAS and I will also provide a 10% coupon to each adopter for a future Crystal Allure purchase!

Also available will be pet related awareness products. See you there!

Rochester Animal Services Open House

In celebration of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, Animal Services is having an open house on Sunday November 5, 2006 from 10am-3pm. Come tour the shelter, visit the animals, find out how to get involved as a volunteer, learn about pet grooming, housetraining, obedience, and attend seminars on exotic reptiles or service dogs. There will be a K9 demonstration at 1pm in neighboring Brown Square Park. Bring your pet for a free nail clipping or to have a microchip ID implanted ($30). Learn more about our spay-neuter programs and take a peak in on the veterinary team in action. This annual event is a great opportunity to highlight the valuable work that Animal Services does.

Harvest Falling Leaves Crystal Cascade Necklace (N090)

As a strong supporter of animals I am honored to have donated the Harvest Falling Leaves Crystal Cascade Necklace (N090) to the 3rd annual Bark and Whine Tasting.

This event is hosted by the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm (Fairport, NY) and details of this wonderful charitable event for animals are listed below.

Harvest Falling Leaves Crystal Cascade Necklace (N090)
One of a Kind Handmade Crystal Necklace
With over 18 points of shimmering Swarovski Crystals in various shades of topaz, accented against a sterling silver chain this handcrafted necklace is absolutely stunning!

I chose to donate this particular Fall Beaded Jewelry necklace for various reasons. But, the most obvious is it's beautiful design!

At 13" in length this necklace will stand out in a crowd and its' colors are reminiscent of crisp, Autumn days.

Don't miss out on your chance to bid for this gorgeous Crystal Allure Jewelry design original!

Bark and Whine Tasting

Celebrate the Spirit of Masquerade at the 3rd annual Bark and Whine Tasting. Join us for a Venetian carnival with a sophisticated twist.

Our 3rd Annual Bark and Whine Tasting event is Saturday, November 4th at 7:30 pm at Locust Hill Country Club. This enchanting evening includes extensive wine tastings, fortune tellers, roving magicians, silent and live auctions, and The Maria Gillard Band. Another Show Closed -Exciting New Products-

As 2006 nears the end of the year, there are only a few local shows left to showcase my jewelry and accessories with. Since starting to do shows this year I've found a mixed bag of results and observations. I'm looking forward to the new shows I hope to sign for 2007 and look forward to seeing you all there!

This past show at the Union Hill Fire Department was what I expected it to be. Just about everyone who walked in actually looked over my table -I've been at a few shows and some people don't even want to step in! I think that really comes from how I set my display up -it looks very professional and I've been commented on it time and time again. It was profitable enough with a few sales and interestingly, this time quite a few people asked me for jewelry making advice and techniques! I hear over and over how beautiful my jewelry is and I am ever so grateful for your comments! Thank you, thank you!!

Sadly, the only disappointment to me was that of the jewelry vendors there (which is somewhat hard to count because what is happening now is jewelry vendors are showcasing a lot of other crafts -but their true craft is the just about everyone seemed to be selling jewelry in some fashion). What I found was those exclusive to jewelry (there was about 33 vendors -give or take -and four of those were exclusive to jewelry) just two were actually handmade! The other two were company's set up like Mary Kay cosmetics -the jewelry was not handmade by the seller -rather they were just a representative of the company. So now I completely understand and do not get too frustrated over the question, "Are your products handmade?". It baffled me at first when I started these shows because that's what the shows were suppose to be about -handmade/handcrafted items. Although in all fairness the "bigger" shows do adhere strictly to these guidelines -which is why I'll be targeting them next year!

But all in all it was a good day and I had the most wonderful conversation with a customer. I never got her name but she asked me all about my main material, Swarovski crystals, and also about upcoming show dates and a few of my products. As she looked over my earrings she even asked me about my FALLing Leaves earrings -and I was excited to tell her the story behind why I designed those! This lovely woman also purchased them and I explained to her that she will be the proud owner of these earrings not only for their design and durability but also because she'll be only the second person to own this design. I only created two sets of that earring and there will only be two individuals in the United States who will own a pair! She was very excited about that -and that topic led into more conversation about the uniqueness of my designs. Again, should she read this blog I wish to thank her for her sincere interest in my designs and again for her purchase.

Of course there are a lot of other talented artists there and I made a few purchases myself! Just couldn't resist some of the items that I know I'll never be able to do -and they'll look great in my house!

Don't forget to keep posted on the few remaining upcoming shows....

Exciting New Products

Now, while at this recent show I realized that I had a ton of new designs that I had created, tagged and put up in a few shows but never got on the website! So, you will see in the next few weeks all these designs being posted (assuming someone hasn't beaten you to the punch -they'll still be available if posted).

Mostly they consist of earrings (since in addition to beading, I'm an earring addict!) but there are also a few watches (beautiful, beautiful designs!!) and some necklaces. Stay tuned.....better still sign up to the newsletter and you'll be notified when these new items will be available AND you'll be eligible for contests and giveaways!

Crystal Bouquet Showcase

On Saturday, October 7, 2006 Comfort Windows and Doors will be holding an open house. While there, you will find some of Crystal Allure's exquisite crystal bouquets on display!

I am honored to have been asked to showcase my crystal bouquets at Comfort Windows and what better place to see their exquisite beauty?! Sitting in those front bay windows catching the rays of the sun....there are no words to describe it. From every angle they sparkle and shine -it's almost mesmerizing!

Even better news -if you happen to be in the market for windows and you purchase from Roland Boisevert he will thank you with a Crystal Allure original suncatcher!! These suncatchers are new to my line and make beautiful window decorations -especially during the fall/winter. All it takes for them to sparkle is just a hint of sun!

Feel free to stop by and see my crystal bouquets during the open house hours. Although I won't be there to greet you, I have a show I'm already committed to, just ask Roland for my business card and he'll be happy to provide one to you.

Healthy Lung Month

Crystal Allure Celebrates Healthy Lung Month

Everyday we take for granted our ability to breathe -but it's not that easy for millions of people with lung diseases. October is Healthy Lung Month and a great time to learn more about the lung diseases that affect more than 30 million Americans.

Cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, asthma, and chronic bronchitis are just some of the lung diseases you may have heard of. Being short of breath can make everyday activities seem like a chore rather than an enjoyment. Consider this: have you ever gone outside on an extremely cold, frigid, windy, winter day and the wind just slaps you in the face with such force and shock that you actually feel like you've lost your breath and you can't breathe? This is how some affected by a lung disease feel -everyday.

So how can you keep your lungs healthy? What can you do to help raise awareness of these lung diseases? Well, if you smoke the first place to start is to STOP SMOKING and/or avoid secondhand smoke. More than 87 percent of lung cancer cases as well as most cases of emphysema and chronic bronchitis are caused by tobacco smoke. And for those with cystic fibrosis, smoke and secondhand smoke further compromises their lungs. I hope this does not sound like an anti-smoking message. But the evidence speaks for itself. Smoking is BAD.

Of course, exercise is an excellent way to keep your lungs healthy -give them a good workout!! If your lungs are already compromised don't despair! There are still exercises you can do -just consult with your physician first before starting any exercise program or routine.

You can also make a difference by raising awareness. One lung disease of special interest to me is cystic fibrosis (CF). This is one disease I'd like to see disappear! Yet, you'd be surprised not many people have heard of CF. Sadly, I've even come across some physicians that didn't know what it was or how to test for it! Those with CF can and should still exercise but ultimately they will need a lung transplant to survive. So how can you help? An excellent resource for cystic fibrosis information and awareness activities is the Lungs for Life Foundation. I urge you to check them out.

Another great way to get involved this month is to purchase your cystic fibrosis awareness, organ donation awareness, transplant awareness, survivor and co-survivor jewelry from Crystal Allure Creations. Remember, your purchase of my designer awareness jewelry will benefit the charity identified in the product description. What better way to get involved than to show your support AND look fabulous!!!

To learn more about cystic fibrosis, visit the Lungs for Life Foundation website.

American Lung Association

Ahead of the times? Or just in line with the times?

It generally takes a lot to surprise or amaze me. Yet lately, creatively, I've amazed myself and don't know what to make of it -more of this to follow. But first, I don't think I make things easy for myself either, as a rule, I can work in my home studio for hours and yet design ideas don't come easily to me until I'm not in the studio (or near paper for that matter!).

Here's what I mean: I think we can all agree our lives are very, very busy. With that said, it is a rule, tradition (call it what you like) in my home for both myself and my husband to stop doing what we're doing every evening at 9:00 p.m. to spend at least an hour with each other before we head to bed to start the next day. We'll usually sit together and watch television. Now it is during these times that design ideas just pop into my head (and of course I'm never near paper) -or best of all, they'll pop in my head while I'm sleeping (and I'll wake up knowing I just created a piece in my thoughts but I'm too tired to turn the light on, search for paper and sketch it out). Mind you, I've lost a good many design ideas simply because of this! Sad, I know.

So now that you know this, let me get back to my original thought (since it all ties in together). On the occasion that I actually get that piece of paper or happen to remember the design when I wake up and actually sketch it out, of late I'm simply amazed that I've actually found my design in a store or a jewelry ad!! I've never seen the piece before yet I designed it in my head -granted the beads are different but essentially it is the same.

Just last night while shopping for a new suit for an upcoming interview (yes, I still must maintain my day job *sigh*) I pointed out a necklace that I had just designed at work that day! Again, the pendant on the store design was different but the structure and this time, even the color was the same and I just pointed at it and said to my husband, "I just sketched that out on paper right before leaving work!". Even more strange is my sketch was a single strand necklace, yet while walking to my car I pictured this design as a multi-strand necklace -which I decided to make it this way. And as I said, there is was, sitting in the store jewelry case! And this is not the first time this has happened. Now, my husband just smiles and shakes his head because he just can't understand how I do this.

Periodically, in my conversations with my husband (bless his soul for listening to me! since I can ramble on...and on...!) I've mentioned to him some idea or trend that I was thinking about and then I get my fashion magazine in the mail and there it is! In print! The idea or trend I just told him about. So, although he's used to it, he's still baffled at times. Me on the other hand, I'm amazed. Not sure why since I have always been creative, felt I was on the "cutting edge" of style -so to speak, and would even go so far as to say I've set my own trends at times.

So why am I amazed? I don't know. Guess I haven't given it much thought -or as my husband would say, I haven't analyzed it yet! Maybe I'm amazed simply because I feel that it "is my design" -or that it could be!

The solution....find the time (HA!!) to get my designs out and into the stores......

KNOT very hard! Silk knotted New York Style Crystal Necklace

A few months back, my customer (Shirley) had come to me with a request to create a beaded necklace she saw in New York City, while on vacation years ago. She had asked numerous other designers to re-create it, but with their limited resources, knowledge and artistic skill, Shirley was disappointed each time she was turned away. When she came to me through a referral, she had a black and white picture of the necklace and a list of the potential beads used in the design.

Although I was not familiar with silk knotting, I cheerfully said I could do the design and looked forward to the challenge. I got to work searching out similar beads and components and some time after that initial meeting I was able to gather all the necessary supplies to handle this custom jewelry request.

Although as I began the project I found no custom job is ever without bumps in the road. It literally took almost two months to actually finalize this necklace but the end result was fabulous!! With a few changes made to the overall design the customer was very pleased and inquired if the necklace could be made in other colors as well!

Shirley's Custom New York Style Silk Knotted Crystal Necklace (N028)
Shirley's Custom New York Style Silk Knotted Crystal Necklace (N028)
One of a Kind

What went into the design of this necklace? Swarovski crystals (of course!), 14 karat gold fill bead caps and components, nylon silk cord and the technique of knotting.

The focal of this stunning 45" necklace is the goldtone Starry Night Swarovski Crystal box clasp. This designer clasp is customizable because you select the crystal rhinestone color you want for your particular design.

Designer Tip: Check out for these designer style box clasps.

So why knot when doing so is a lot more trouble than simply stringing beads?
• The beads look better. The knots space the beads, allowing you to see each bead better.

• Beaded necklaces (and bracelets) that have been knotted have a more finished and luxurious look.

• If the necklace ever breaks, only one bead will be lost.

• The necklace is less likely to break. The sharp part of the bead hole tends to wear against the reinforced knot, not the thin bead cord.

• Softer bead materials (such as pearls, malachite, or coral) are prevented from rubbing together and abrading the sides of the beads.

General Tips and Tricks:
1. Pre-stretch your cord overnight by tying two light weight keys at either end of the cord and hanging it;
2. You may pre-string all the beads to be knotted all at once (faster method), or you can put them on one at a time (easier for beginners);
3. Use the same knotting technique throughout the design.

Tips on selecting your thread:
Color: (Option 1) Select thread to match the color of the beads -or- (Option 2) Select thread that is slightly darker in color than your focal bead.

Type: Silk is the preferred cord for knotting, especially pearls. Nylon cord will work when a stronger, thicker cord is necessary.

Thickness: Use a thickness of cord that when doubled (2 strands) fits snugly inside your bead. Most beads are drilled with a 1.0mm diameter hole. For soft bead materials such as pearls, silk cord in size E or F works well. For harder materials like black onyx, garnet, or rose quartz, use nylon cord in size 2 or silk in size F for 8mm beads.

Length: You’ll need a length of cord at least four times the length of your finished necklace, for example, an 18" necklace will need at least 4x18"=72" or 6 feet.

On the last two knots either: (1) put a tiny drop of a thin adhesive such as Hypo Tube Cement or (2) clear nailpolish. When dry, carefully trim off the excess cords.

Advanced Techniques:
1. Add bead tips for a clean, professional look

Crystal Allure's First Show

Whew! It's finally over! Doing a show (especially if it's your first one) takes ALOT of work!! There is so much to do, coordinate and have in inventory to make it successful and to be satisfied with your show. Needless to say, the weather was NOT on my side Saturday (Chil-E Festival, July 22, 2006).

The show began at 11am but sign-in was at 7am. Eek!! For me on a weekend that was tough! But I did it. Although it had started to rain an hour or so before that and it didn't stop until nearly noon. The truck was all packed up (thanks to my husband) and I was ready to go (all the while in my head trying to figure out how the rain will affect things). We get there, sign in and learn we're in the first booth -great! Since it's downpouring like nothing else we decided to leave and return in an hour or so...get a few more things done.

We returned to learn they decided to move the show into the nearby senior center -which based on the fact that it was still raining very badly and there was easy access to bathrooms -I welcomed the change! Being my first show I didn't want to have to also tackle the rain too. The only downfall to the whole event was the money I spent on the tent -but I also know I'll get to use it sometime as I will be doing other shows. And it was a good thing we lived around the corner from the show location because I had to send my husband home for a card table since we only had an 8' and 6' table and being put in the senior center we were on limited space.

So, my husband unpacks the truck and I begin setting up after I've been assigned my spot -which was a good spot and I was still pleased with it. Now with all that I had to do to get ready I never really did a test set up of my display. I had it all worked out in my mind -even if one idea didn't work I had back up ideas to every design.

My look kind of evolved at the last minute and it ended up being a polka dot theme and I think it looked great! I did get pictures of my display but they do not reflect what the real display would have looked like because I was positioned in front of the senior news board! But you get the idea.

The only other disappointment I had was that while picking up things the day before the show I had this wonderful and unique earring display idea -it just had to be created. So I bought all the supplies I needed and told my husband of this idea and he made it happen! Unfortunately...I wasn't able to hang it in the senior center and so I never got to use it. BUT, stay tuned to future shows as I know I'll get to use it at a later date.

Outside of these small mishaps the day went very well. I met other local designers and artisans and even with the rain the people still came in. I had a variety of pieces to offer along with a range of price levels and I even sold a bracelet that I wasn't able to get out on the table (due to time constraints) all because the customer asked if I had any smaller children's sized bracelets -and I did!

My entire expectation of the event was to get exposure in the local community and not only did I meet this goal, I also made some sales and possibly a future bridal custom order. And so at the end of this very tiring day I was very satisfied -and very thankful I had my husband to help me the entire time! He packed the truck, unloaded it, sat with me ALL day (until 7pm!), he made our lunches, packed the truck back up and then unpacked it again when we got home! He saved me and as always I am VERY grateful to him and for him! Thanks hon!!

Website Changes

I'm in the process of updating/changing the website's look and feel. You will already see some of the pages have already been changed but it's going to take a little longer to get the remaining pages many pages so little time (and it's very tedious work too!!). LOL!

You will already see that the look of this blog has been updated as well. It's a new look for Crystal Allure that I think is great!

Remember, during this process the website still functions properly and you can still make your purchases. It's just you may find some pages are not aligned properly or the colors are not the same as other pages.

Thank you for your patience during this transition.

And I would love to hear your comments on the new look -drop me a line or make a comment to this post.

The Need for BEADS!

I've been on a creative spurt the last few weeks in preparation for an upcoming event (check out my events & shows listing for day/time). I have designed so many new and great things that there is absolutely no way I can get them all pictured to get on the website AND prepared for the show (tagged, priced, etc) so I've decided to wait until after the show to get posted the designs that are available. So stay tuned!!

However, I digressed...getting back on track...I've found that while designing I am in the "zone" -a creative streak (so to speak..pardon the rhyme) -and while in this "zone" the one thing I absolutely dislike is....RUNNING OUT OF SUPPLIES!

For example, yesterday I designed this bracelet with a bead I've had for probably well over six months or more and viola! a bracelet emerged. Like most beads I get I love the bead but I don't always have a specific design in mind when I buy them. But finally I was able to "see" the vision of a design for these particular beads -and it truly does look great. And so I then create a complimentary pair of earrings! On a roll now....then out of the blue (and I rarely make sets of three -i.e., bracelets, earrings AND necklace) I get this design idea stuck in my head for a necklace that again, would compliment either or both the bracelet and earrings and off I go designing -to give you kind of a visual if you were looking at me you'd see beads, wire, and tools flying in all different directions as I designed away!

And I get two of the beads positioned where I want them on the chain and POOF! I run out of the small gold beads I need to complete the look! Maybe the rule of thumb is to always order more than you think of the beads you assume you won't be using too much of -because that's precisely what happened here.

There is nothing more stiffling on creativity than to have a design in mind and not be able to do something about it right away while the design and inspiration is still fresh. I have tons of designs that are still sitting in a pile on my desk to be created and I just lost interest because I couldn't do it while I was inspired (for whatever reason...time, supplies, etc) -my ideas come as quickly as I lose interest -I need to get that design created before I'm off on another design idea. They are all great but there is only so much time in the day and only so many beads my office can hold and my budget can handle.

And so, I sit here typing and thinking about that unfinished necklace and the half-dozen or so other unfinished projects on my desk and wonder...why am I typing this blog when I could be ordering the needed supplies?!

: )

Wire-Wrapping Technique

Shortly after I began designing my pieces I came across the technique of wire-wrapping. This technique makes for a beautifully finished piece of jewelry -especially if any component you wire-wrap dangles from the design, such as charms.

My very first piece that uses this new technique that I have learned are the Glow Earrings. In the first attempt at these I had used the simple loop technique but once they were done and I was able to see them whole and finished something just didn't look right. I decided today is the day I'm going to learn a new technique and I decided to teach myself wire-wrapping.

Armed with some instructional books and the proper tools I took the first earring and wire-wrapped the first crystal -it came out perfect the very first time! I thought to myself, "This wasn't very difficult...why did I wait so long to learn this?!" And so onto the second earring and viola! The results were a beautiful pair of earrings that anyone would be proud to wear.

They were so beautiful that I just had to have a pair for myself! And so, I now have as part of my personal jewelry collection this pair of earrings that look absolutely stunning with a dressy outfit or even a casual outfit (such as white crop pants, a tan colored shirt -in any fabric except cotton -and sandles) -fabulous!!

I am currently working on a bracelet and earrings set that again uses this technique but I am most interested in a forthcoming piece of jewelry that will be designed into earrings using shell disc beads. I can picture the finished piece in my mind and I am quite positive they'll be wonderful! -stay tuned!!

I am not one for re-inventing the wheel when the wheel is not broken so if you're interesting in learning this technique for yourself all you have to do is simply do a search on the internet for "wire-wrapping" or go to your local bookstore and search for jewelry design books. As always, use the proper tools and you too can create beautiful wire-wrapped jewelry!

Crystal Allure Makes Its' Mark!

Just arrived! Crystal Allure signature jewelry tags!

Each beautiful Sterling Silver bracelet and/or necklace you purchase will now be adorned with our new .925 Sterling Silver oval custom jewelry tag. These tags are engraved with a diamond tip in a beautiful cursive font.

This signature tag adds just the right finishing touch to each of my stunning creations.

Although some of the designs you see on the website do not show the jewelry tag, it is my plan overtime to re-picture each appropriate piece reflecting the new tag. In addition, in the near future it is planned to also add a 14k Gold or 14k Gold-Filled jewelry tag to all my Gold Creations.

Picture Perfect

I haven't been all too happy with my jewelry pictures and I finally broke down and invested in a light tent. It actually arrived weeks ago and it wasn't until recently that I have been able to "steal" some time and test it out. Up to now I've tried to take pictures in all sorts of lighting in various ways and although the picture comes out it just does not do my jewelry justice!

So far, all the Summer Collection pictures have been taken with the new light tent. As you can see I'm still working on the lighting factor but I do think they have been coming out better. Although these new pictures using the light tent are not the final pictures I plan to leave on the site I did want to get some posted especially too since they are from the Summer Collection.

My goal is to get bright, crisp pictures of all my products so that you, the customer, can get a better idea of how they look. Although I know ALL my customers are even more pleased once they receive the jewelry and see it real time -it's still hard to make a decision when the picture is not great. But, I'm working on that!

More of the Summer Collection still to come.....

National Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month

May is National Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) affects approximately 30,000 children and young adults in the United States. CF causes a sticky, thick mucus to line the lungs, small intestines, sweat glands and pancreas. This results in the deterioration of lung tissue making it difficult to breathe. It also prevents necessary nutrient absorption in the small intestine and blocks pancreatic ducts from releasing digestive enzymes. 1 in every 23 Americans are symptomless carriers of the CF gene.

Crystal Allure Creations is a proud supporter of the Lungs for Life.

LFL provides assistance and services to those living with cystic fibrosis and their families. Crystal Allure made significant strides in raising awareness of this hereditary disease since 2004 with the sales from our Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Bracelets. For every bracelet sold a portion of the proceeds gets donated to Lungs for Life.

As one who was personally affected with cystic fibrosis in my family I know all to well the struggles one faces daily with trying to live life and manage their health. My brother and muse passed away in 1998 after fighting cystic fibrosis for 33 years. It was after seeing his daily struggles that I founded and continue to support the Lungs for Life.

Be a part of making a difference in the life of someone with cystic fibrosis with your purchase of any cystic fibrosis awareness product. Remember, a portion of the proceeds will be donated directly to LFL.

Thank you in advance for your support and generosity!

Welcome to Crystal Allure Creations

Hello! And welcome to my jewelry studio blog for Crystal Allure Creations.

I thought it would be fun to keep a journal, that I could share with everyone, of my journey as a beaded jewelry artisan and my entrepreneurial dream (that has come true, twice over) of running my own business.

In 2000, I founded a not-for-profit charity in memory of my older brother who lost his battle with cystic fibrosis while waiting for a double lung transplant. As a way to raise funds for the charity, I began designing cystic fibrosis and lung transplant beaded awareness bracelets. I was shocked to find, after much research, that nothing like this existed and so I set out to meet the demands of this niche and the desires of many people around the world who wanted an awareness bracelet to show their support for these causes.

The bracelets became so popular that soon after, Crystal Allure was born and we quickly became the leader of cystic fibrosis and transplant awareness jewelry around the world and web. This success has been, by far, what I am most proud of. I turned my loss into something that could help others and designing awareness jewelry has also helped heal the sadness of losing my brother.

So, check back often for new jewelry pieces, a glance at life in the jewelry studio and behind the designs. Better still, you can subscribe for FREE and then you will never miss a post!
